Conference Calendar: Field Help

You can enter words into any or all of these fields to search the Conference Calendar Database. Note: For suggestions and hints on searching this database, read the search tips.

Border

Upcoming Events/All Events

Use this field to search for events that are upcoming (after the current date) or search all the events in the database.

Example:
To search for criteria in all the conferences in the database, both past and upcoming, select the following:

Use this field to search for any word, phrase, numerical sequence, or abbreviation anywhere in the entire database. If you are not sure where a certain word or phrase might appear, enter it in this field. Be sure to use quotation marks surrounding specific phrases, numerical sequences, and abbreviations, for retrieval of exact information.

Note: Selecting the and operator (default) allows for a more specific search. The or operator allows for a broader search. Read the search tips for further explanation.

Use this field to find conferences with a certain word or words in the titles.

Use this field to search for the contact information, such as who to contact regarding attending the conference.

To find all conferences where National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is the contact, enter the following:

Use this field to search for the organization sponsoring the conference.

Use this field to find conferences that will take place in a particular city.
If you enter a city with more than one word in its name, put quotes around it.

To find conferences that will take place in San Francisco, enter the following:

Use this field to find conferences in a particular state, province, or territory.
You may select more than one state by holding down the "Control" key on your keyboard while clicking on another state with your mouse. You may also use this method to deselect states.

Use this field to search for conferences addressing specific issues or topics.
You may select more than one descriptor by holding down the "Control" key on your keyboard while clicking on another descriptor with your mouse. You may also use this method to deselect descriptors.

Use this field to search the "Notes" section. This field will usually include deadlines, fees, medical education credits, and exhibition information. If you would like to find phrases of two words or more, put quotes around it.

Example:
To find conferences that will make continuing medical education credits available to participants, enter the following:

Use this field to specify whether you want to search for conferences in the United States, countries other than the United States, or no preference.
You may select more than one country by holding down the "Control" key on your keyboard while clicking on another country with your mouse. You may also use this method to deselect countries.

To find conferences that will take place in the United States, select the following:

Use this field to search for certain types of events, such as symposium, training, or satellite conference.
You may select more than one event type by holding down the "Control" key on your keyboard while clicking on another event type with your mouse. You may also use this method to deselect event types.

Example:
To find events that are conferences, select the following:

Use this field to find conferences that will occur between a certain date range. The dates must be entered in the MM/DD/YYYY format; for example, December 07, 2000, would be entered as 12/07/2000.

Example:
To find conferences that occurred between April 15, 2001, and November 15, 2001, choose All Events and enter the following:

Display Options

There are two display options that control the format and the number of results displayed on your screen. These options are found at the bottom of the Conference Calendar Database search page.

Select Display Format

  1. Display a list of matching conferences.
    Selecting this option will display a list of only conference names on your screen. To view the full record of one conference, click on the highlighted title.

    You may also view multiple records. Click in the checkboxes next to the records you want to see, then click on the View button at the top or bottom of the screen to show the multiple, detailed records.

  2. Display complete information about all matching conferences.
    Selecting this option will display all of the results in full format, meaning that all of the fields in a particular record will be displayed on your screen.

Maximum Number of Conferences to Display
If you want to change the number of conferences that can be displayed, you may change the number in the box. The maximum amount of conferences that can be displayed is 999.

Maximum Number of Conferences to Display Per Page
You may change the amount of conferences displayed per page by adjusting the number. The maximum number of conferences to display per page is 99.
