Resources and Services: Introduction
This database contains descriptions of more than 19,000 organizations that provide services related to HIV/AIDS, STDs, and TB. Services include case management, counseling and testing, prevention, education and outreach, health care, support services, housing assistance, and legal counseling.
About the Resources and Services Database
This database is the only one of its kind in the United States. Since 1987, staff members have been identifying appropriate organizations and adding them to the database. New organizations are added regularly and current listings are verified to be sure that the information in the database is as current as possible.
What You Will Find When You Search This Database? The Resources and Services Database will help you find national, state, or city organizations that provide a range of services related to prevention, treatment, support, and care for HIV/AIDS, STDs, and TB. You can locate groups that provide services in languages other than English and groups that target their services to specific audiences (youth, women, etc). While a small number of organizations located outside of the United States are included, the database is primarily a resource for groups in the United States.
The information provided about each organization includes the:
- name, address, and telephone number,
- geographical service area,
- hours of service,
- access procedures,
- types of services and audiences served, and
- information resources produced.
How the Database Is Organized The Resources and Services Database is organized into sections called "fields." For example, "Organization Name," "City," and "State," are each separate fields. Together these fields make up the full description of each organization in the database; this is called a "record." Your search results will be made up of database records that match your search question.
After you enter the information, click on Search. The Results screen will show all organizations that match the criteria you entered. Click on an organization's name to display the full record for that organization.
